§ 46-85. Transfer of licenses.

  • (a)

    All licenses shall be transferable, with the approval of the town, with the business for which they were taken out, when there is a bona fide sale or transfer of the property used and employed in the business as stock in trade or there is a change in location of the licensed business, but such transferred license shall not be good for any longer time nor in any other place than that for which it was originally issued. The original license must be surrendered to and filed with the town at the time of the application for the transfer and such transfer after being approved shall be of the same force and effect as the original license.

    (b)

    Any business license may be transferred to a new owner when there is a bona fide sale of the business upon payment of a transfer fee of ten percent of the annual license tax, but not less than $3.00 nor more than $25.00, and presentation of the original license and evidence of the sale.

    (c)

    Upon written request and presentation of the original license, any license may be transferred from one location to another location in the town upon payment of a transfer fee of ten percent of the annual license tax, but not less than $3.00 nor more than $25.00.
